But there are a few ways to potentially recover the data. The organization owner knows the backup system had restrictions and wasn't sold to handle catastrophic failure or physical loss of the server (cost issues). The backup volume is also on refs/mbs/dedupe volume. But the DPM database is gone so its going to be a challenge to gain access to these backups. The volume that these backups are stored on is healthy and i don't see any issues with the data itself. Also 24-hour backups run on all systems (VM os's, apps) which i believe are mostly good. I should be able to recover what is on these vt's though.Ĥhr backups also ran on user data and mailbox data and i know the backup integrity of these is definately good. The volume these virtualized tapes are stored on is healthy, and i don't see any issues with it. While i see the file date on these are set to 3-2-2021, i am not sure of the integrity of the backup. I did put in a Virtualized Tape Library that runs once a month on the 2nd with user data/mailbox data only. On a seperate server fully functional with a current restorable backup or tape, No. And i really would hate to see this happen again to them after a restore. My stomachs in a knot, this makes me ill. Can't afford much equipment, and will buckle under the costs to repair this. Have you seen a fail like this before? And what would you replace? Customer is a small charity organization. I would really appreciate any of your thoughts. Possibly the SAS backplane lost power for unknown reason while the controller was somehow online? What do you think? I'm thinking its likely an intermittent power glitch in the SAS backplane or the power backplane. 2x HP P840 to SAS Backplane Mini-Y SAS Cableīut i don't really have an explanation for the failure.HP P840 Smart Array to Cache Battery 235mm Cable.HP 4GB FBWC Module for Smart Array Controller.I decided to replace all inline parts for the customer on my dime: I doubt anyone pulled all the drives out of it while it was running. And i am lacking an explanation for the failure. I should be able to get the data, but restoring the systems are unlikely. Reseated everything just in case.Īll VM's are gone adios, and it's going to take me a while to get to the data just to restore it. I checked all connections, but everything was tight and tidy. I have been working on it for a couple hours and havent seen any issues. The server without any replacement parts is fully functional. Especially as this site is single server / with tiny IT budget of a charity organization. And of course there is nothing fun about that. Server can see a bootable drive, but RSOD. The re-enable is successful, but it doesn't help me in the least. Which, after looking at the obvious corrupted raid configuration, i opt for. Only option i have is to re-enable the logical drive. The only breadcrumb i have to work on, besides the post error message of a 3-drive outage is in the IML: The only notice i see in the ADU is something about Hot Plug Sense, but its not with a date and i guess it could be old. Reviewing the adu logs, drives are at 11,000 hours (0.15% of their expected life), with not a single read or write error on any of the drives. So i booted into SSA, and I find all drives, controller, battery are green and online. Server does not boot after this, no bootable drive message.
